DAPLIX is a small molecule medication classified as a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, used primarily to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It improves glycemic control in adults and children aged 10 years and above by inhibiting glucose reabsorption in the kidneys, which leads to increased glucose excretion through urine (glycosuria). This action helps lower blood sugar levels alongside diet and exercise. It is also used to reduce the risks of heart failure hospitalization, cardiovascular death, and kidney disease progression in adults with chronic kidney disease or heart failure.
